The lump in the throat and frequent vocal cord issues are no coincidence. They are the physical manifestation of the words we swallowed to keep a false peace with our surroundings.
You know the feeling. You are sitting across from someone, listening as they violate your boundaries or say something you deeply disagree with. Inside, you feel a fire. Your mind screams in defense, your heart beats faster. But you just smile, nod, and swallow the words. In that exact moment, an invisible noose tightens in your throat. A knot is formed. From the perspective of somatic alchemy, a physical block has just been born.
🗣️ For those learning to speak without the fear of rejection
The neck and throat form the narrowest passage in our body. They are the bridge connecting our feelings (heart/body) with our logic (mind). When what we feel is not in alignment with what our mind tells us to do out of "politeness," this bridge closes. The repeated swallowing of truth, the fear of conflict, and the silence born from the fear of rejection are written directly into the thyroid area, the vocal cords, and the cervical spine. The body literally accumulates the vibration of unspoken sound.
Maintaining harmony at all costs is destructive. The habit of staying silent when you need to scream (or at least clearly say "no") often manifests as chronic sore throats, loss of voice, the sensation of a lump in the throat (globus hystericus), or a stiff neck that you cannot turn. Energy must express itself somewhere. If you do not give it a pathway through an articulated word, it will strike the tissues that were supposed to produce that sound.
Truth has its own unique frequency. Energetic sovereignty does not require us to be arrogant or aggressive, but it does require radical honesty—first and foremost with ourselves. Healing the throat begins the moment we understand that our voice has the right to exist in a space, even if others disagree with it. Stopping the protection of others' comfort at the expense of your own truth is the highest form of self-love.
The words that do not leave your lips do not disappear. They remain trapped within your body and turn into poison. Open your mouth today and say the one thing you are most afraid of. Let the bridge breathe freely once again. ⚖️
